What you don't eat,you don't smell.

I am a believer in this Yoruba adage that ''what you don't eat,you don't smell''.This adage clearly expresses my observation about the Nigeria State. The Nigerian State is a co-signatory to various protocols, bilateral Agreements and conventions, the moment the protocol or agreement is signed by both parties, the agreements does not see the light of the day or never implemented or implemented fully. An example is the Kyoto Protocol which Nigeria is a signatory,The Kyoto Protocol is a protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC or FCCC), aimed at fighting global warming. The UNFCCC is an international environmental treaty with the goal of achieving the "stabilization of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system(Wikipedia). What i see in Nigeria is a gross contradiction of what  the protocol stands for.On the Motorways trucks that are over 30 years old and Buses that are old discharges black fumes into the air.Due to increase in price of domestic fuel,People who cant afford to buy domestic fuels because of increase in price, falls  down trees to make fire to cook, depletion of this natural resource can cause deforestation.,on the waterways  oil and sludge flows  on the sea causing degradation of the ecosystem and environment. The same can be said in the Niger delta about Oil spillage. Most households in Nigeria do generate their power, and fumes from this generator is emitted into the air.The Nigerian state should please implement or fully implement and enforce whatever policy they have on Climate change and protection of the environment.Just my opinion and observation.
